Unfortunatley, the JMPD has decided that it is a-okay to issue fraudulent fines to motorists. If you have received an AARTO infringement or notification, issued for speeding on the N1 South near Diepkloof interchange (Construction Zone) and the Armco barrier appears on the left of the picture, between the camera and your car, it is fraudulent because you were in fact on the N12E.

They will look like these:

A police officer pulls a guy over for speeding and has the following exchange:

Officer: May I see your driver’s license?
Driver: I don’t have one. I had it suspended when I got my 5th Drunken driving charge

Officer: May I see the owner’s card for this vehicle?
Driver: It’s not my car. I stole it.

Officer: The car is stolen?
Driver: That’s right. But come to think of it, I think I saw the owner’s card in the glove box when I was putting my gun in there.

Officer: There’s a gun in the glove box?
Driver: Yes sir. That’s where I put it after I shot and killed the woman who owns this car and stuffed her in the trunk.

Officer: There’s a BODY in the TRUNK?!?!?
Driver: Yes, sir.

Hearing this, the officer immediately called his captain. The car was quickly surrounded by police, and the captain approached the driver to handle the tense situation:

Captain: Sir, can I see your license?
Driver: Sure. Here it is.

It was valid.

Captain: Who’s car is this?
Driver: It’s mine, officer. Here’s the owner’s card.

The driver owned the car.

Captain: Could you slowly open your glove box so I can see if there’s a gun in it?
Driver: Yes, sir, but there’s no gun in it.

Sure enough, there was nothing in the glove box.

Captain: Would you mind opening your trunk? I was told you said there’s a body in it.
Driver: No problem.

Trunk is opened; no body.

Captain: I don’t understand it. The officer who stopped you said you told him you didn’t have a license, stole the car, had a gun in the glovebox, and that there was a dead body in the trunk.

Driver: Yeah, I’ll bet the lying s.o.b. told you I was speeding, too!

The justice project of south africa started by Dennis Jackson and other concerned members of the public (www.jp-sa.org) have been campaigning for a stop of all manned speed cameras as they are illegal and pose a hazard to road users. They have also been campaigning against the aarto system which limits the justice of motorists.

The dreaded demerit point system started last week in the Johannesburg region. Now all alleged traffic violations will come with a demerit point number attached, should you admit guilt by paying the 50% discounted fine within 32 days the fine will be gone but not the demerit points, neither will they be gone if you decide to contest and your representation is unsuccessful, in fact you will lose the 50% discount on the traffic fine and have to pay an additional R200 administration fee, but get this:

If you then choose to have your case heard in court, you dont receive any demerit points and dont have to pay the admin fee and the fine until the case is finalised which can be one to two years later, if you are found guilty you only pay the fine and only then are the demerit points recorded against you, I am going with that option! but just get the traffic fines toolkit first so you know how to defend against those invalid traffic fines.

Read an intersting article today stating that Dubai had issued more than 107 000 traffic fines last month (May 2009). Now you and I because we live in the land of corrupt Metro Police who use the Traffic Cameras as if they were rigged Casino Machines would think that these were issued for speeding fines, after all Mr Wayne Minnaar’s primary job is to remind us how these speeding fines are supposedly making our roads safer hence the reason that 95% of fines issued are for speeding.

“According to the release, more than 3,660 fines were issued for stopping in undesignated areas while 2,994 fines were given for motorists of heavy trucks for not adhering to lane discipline. More than 2,700 fines were issued for parking on pavements and around 2,600 fines for stopping on the side of the road.”

Well guess what, the least amount of the 107 000 fines were issued for speeding! More than 25,000 of the fines were for not adhering to lane discipline while more than 11,000 fines were given for blocking the flow of traffic. The third in the list is not wearing seat belts with more than 4,100 fines issued.Come on Wayne, get off your #$s and start issuing fines like they did, maybe then we will believe that you are actually making the roads safer!

Have you noticed how many roadblocks there are towards the end of the month?

I was drving around today and it is clearly full of roadblocks all around. And its not just where I live either, people were phoning in to 702 to say the same thing. It makes you wonder whether the claims people are making are true, i.e that they are after money only. I mean where are they the rest of the month?

Come to think of it, its like a typical well oiled business, hand out tickets the whole month, then at the end of month make sure you collect!

Well, don’t be intimidated, you can only be arrested if there is a warrant for your arrest, you cant be forced to pay outstanding fines so don’t give in. If you do have a warrant then just pay it and get it over with because otherwise it will be difficult, make sure to keep notes of everything though and get your hands on that toolkit to learn how to fight back for your rights.

So that pretty much confirms that Joburg is making around R70 million rands a month in Traffic Fine revenue.

Cheers to the motorist who gave the Metro Police some of their own medicine back by trapping THEM!

Our motoring hero was stopped by those spiedkops and accused of talking on his cellphone while driving. Not content with giving him a ticket they decided to have the court case there and then at the guys car window in Nugget street, Hillbrow. Officer 1 reckoned: “Yes, you are guilty of driving while talking on your cellphone”, Officer 2 says: “You are fined R60, now run off to the ATM so me and my friend can buy some Chicken Licken and two cokes”.

Off went our hero who saved the day by recording the serial numbers on the notes and handing it over to the corrupt Chicken Licken and Coke seekers. But before they even had a chance to even buy it, much less taste it, this oke phoned the anti-corruption hot line and these two Metro Crooks were picked up and arrested.

Don’t you just love how it all comes together!
